Greece is a place like no other. It is vast and complex, wise and modern, ancient and forward-thinking. Greece is a wonder.

My love affair with Greece first began in 2002 while working as an au pair on Greece's third largest island, Lesvos, the lush island - the green island.

I worked for a wonderful family and they owned a restaurant. Her father was a fisherman, and they say her mother was the original Shirley Valentine. I must have tried at least 20 different types of fish from the Aegean Sea that summer.

Late night philosophical discussion with the Greeks under a full moon, discovering new ways of looking at the world and myself, pondering the meaning of life while staring out into the white-capped waves of the deep cobalt blue Aegean.

What a blessing getting to know Greece has been. It has shaped the trajectory of my entire life, as I knew it would within an hour of arriving all those years ago. Thank you, Greece. Efharisto.
